Overview of the project

This CDC HL7 Immunization and Vaccine Adverse Event Reports (VAERS) Message Transport and Parser Project is one of two sets of public domain open source software tools for State Immunization Information System (SIIS) to securely exchange immunization and VAERS information in Health Level Seven (HL7) messages over the Internet.

The other project is the HTTPS Message Receiver: Java Server Pages to accept and parse HL7 messages containing Immunization and Vaccine Adverse Event Reports (VAERS) information.

Both of these programs work off the same Chameleon Visual Message Definition (VMD) file. The Chameleon program routines are used for generating and parsing the HL7 message stream.
