CDC Immunization Record EXchange (iREX) Project

Overview of the project

This projects is two sets of public domain open source software tools for State Immunization Information System (SIIS) to securely exchange immunization and VAERS information in Health Level Seven (HL7) messages over the Internet.

The two sets of computer software consist of the following:

1. Immunization Record EXchange (iREX): HTTPS Message Receiver Java Server Pages to accept and parse HL7 messages containing Immunization and Vaccine Adverse Event Reports (VAERS) information.
2. Immunization Program: A Windows program to collect and send HL7 messages containing Immunization and Vaccine Adverse Event Reports (VAERS) information.

Both of these programs work off the same Chameleon Visual Message Definition (VMD) file. The VMD file was last updated on 11/27/2002. The Chameleon program routines are used for generating and parsing the HL7 message stream.
